Brief
Working alongside Umbra and John Lewis in collaboration involved conferencing our concepts weekly. The brief was to design a solution that will help make small space nomadic living comfortable, easy, and affordable. The design will aid the end user with storage or organisation in the bedroom, hallway, and /or lounge. Think about multiple room usage or open plan living and consider more than one functions, space efficiency, and dual utility.
Design
The Nomad is a multifunctional bedroom organiser, whether for holding your clothes, shoes or to be used as a drying rack, the Nomad also features a top and bottom fabric shelf. The top pocket can be used for quick drop down items such as wallet keys and phone, or the bottom to store shoes, slippers etc.
Designed to fit multiple rooms, with a simple cork screw design the organiser can be broken down and put back together in minutes. It replaces the need for a big bulky wardrobe or storage and eases the nomadic lifestyle of young professionals and renters.

Process
Research began by exploring existing homeware products and their environments, gaining valuable knowledge on a locational need for products in a small space home.  We focused on creating a organisational product for your bedroom or entryway. The concept started with the rocking plant pot idea as you can see illustrated in phase one, however during development and feedback with Umbra we moved away from homeware to the entryway organiser.
Numerous design variations were tested, for example, modelling out of bamboo, experimenting with different shelf ideas and exploring other features such as a drying rack. Fitting the product  into the given shelf size packaging was a complicated process. As you can see in the drawing the product breaks down and screws together for portability.
